Error in my "hello world" test

Brian Abbott
Hi,

I am new to JSF and MyFaces. I downloaded MyFaces
yesterday and was able to quickly have the examples up
and running inside both Tomcat 5.5 and 5.0.28. Moving
forward, I created my own web app with a small
test.jsp file to use the MyFaces tags. Everytime I
execute my example, I get the following error:

java.lang.NullPointerException

javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentTag.setupResponseWriter(UIComponentTag.java:646)

javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentTag.doStartTag(UIComponentTag.java:254)

org.apache.jsp.test_jsp._jspx_meth_x_inputDate_0(test_jsp.java:81)
        org.apache.jsp.test_jsp._jspService(test_jsp.java:56)

org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase.service(HttpJspBase.java:94)

javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:802)

org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServletWrapper.service(JspServletWrapper.java:324)

I am not able to solve this. I checked my web.xml and
faces-config.xml. I copied the web.xml from the
examples. My faces-config.xml appears as follows.

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<!DOCTYPE faces-config PUBLIC
  "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD JavaServer Faces
Config 1.0//EN"
  "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-facesconfig_1_0.dtd" >

<faces-config>

        <!-- navigation rules for helloWorld.jsp -->
        <navigation-rule>
                <from-view-id>/test.jsp</from-view-id>
        </navigation-rule>

</faces-config>

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Thank you,

-Brian
